Consistency is the product.
Recycled material is only commercially useful when it behaves the same way twice. These are the disciplines that protect that, described as practice rather than as paperwork.

Material consistency
A grade has to behave the same way in the next batch as it did in the last. Input selection and homogenisation hold that line, because a moulder resets their process for every variation.
Colour consistency
Recycled colour drifts when input drifts. Sorting by colour upstream is what keeps a black or a grey within a recognisable tolerance from run to run.
Processing stability
Melt behaviour decides whether a line runs or stops. Stability is judged against the customer's actual method — raffia, blow, injection or film.
Mechanical performance
Strength, stiffness and impact resistance are matched to the end use, so a crate grade is not sold into a pallet application.
Batch control
Production is tracked by batch so material can be traced back and a customer's feedback tied to a specific run.
Quality inspection
Granules are inspected before release for particle uniformity, colour and visible contamination.
Why it matters
A variable feedstock costs more than it saves.
If a moulder has to re-tune temperatures, cycle times and pressures for every delivery, the scrap and downtime erase whatever the material saved on purchase. That is the real argument for grading and batch control — before any environmental one.
Stage 01
Before production
Input is sorted by polymer and by colour. What enters the process decides what can come out of it.
Stage 02
During production
Material is homogenised so a batch behaves as one material, and granule size is held uniform for reliable dosing.
Stage 03
Before dispatch
Batches are inspected for colour, particle consistency and visible contamination, and recorded against the run.
